School bus transport in Thane: a guide for schools

A guide for Thane schools whose buses deal with Ghodbunder Road, the Eastern Express Highway and some of the heaviest monsoon rain in the region.

School transport in Thane

Thane has become a city of large townships, and many of its schools are spread along Ghodbunder Road, Pokhran Road and around Majiwada, with families in Hiranandani Estate, Vasant Vihar, Kasarvadavali and Kolshet. Routes often cover short distances but take a long time because of junction congestion.

Ghodbunder Road carries heavy goods traffic heading to and from Gujarat and Nashik, and ongoing metro work has narrowed parts of the corridor. During the monsoon, Thane receives intense rainfall, and stretches near Kalwa, Mumbra bypass and some township entrances can flood quickly.

For Thane, we recommend scheduling morning runs to clear Ghodbunder Road junctions before heavy-vehicle peaks and keeping monsoon fallback stops inside township gates. Smart Bus lets the transport office see each bus in real time, so when Kapurbawdi junction jams, parents in Kolshet know the bus is coming rather than calling the school.

Smart Bus connects GPS, cameras, RFID attendance, SOS alerts and the parent app in one dashboard (see all features). Looking for pricing and devices? See Satcop’s school bus tracking solution.
